Designing a social discovery app powered by real-world behavior, not reviews.

Sixpence is an early-stage (pre-seed) mobile app designed to help users discover places, products, and experiences through recommendations from people they trust — based on how they actually spend their money.

Unlike traditional review platforms, the App focuses on real behavior over opinions, turning everyday spending into a source of discovery.
Product Strategy
My Role

Led the end-to-end design of the MVP across mobile, shaping core product flows, interaction patterns, and visual direction — including branding — from onboarding and discovery to social interaction and profile systems.
The Problem

People don’t trust generic reviews anymore.
  • Reviews are often biased or outdated
  • Recommendations are scattered across chats and social media
  • There’s no structured way to see what your friends actually use, buy, or visit
👉 Discovery lacks trust, context, and relevance
Designed around a simple loop:

  • Discover through friends’ activity
  • Explore places and products in context
  • Save for later
  • Share your own experiences

Monetized through high-intent discovery — via affiliate revenue, promoted placements, and creator-led recommendations within the core flow.
Key Experience Areas

Social Feed (Core)
A feed of real-world activity — what people buy, visit, and experience — creating a trusted discovery layer.

Profiles (Identity Layer)
Users build a profile based on their activity, not just static information.

👉 Turns behavior into content
